Okay, I thought that last story was bad, but this story from Norway takes the cake:

"A man who wildly stabbed fellow passengers on board an Oslo tram three years ago is now seeking compensation from the state. He claims he never should have been released from psychiatric care just days before he went amok, and his victim's own mother agrees."

The State:

"A Myrtle Beach borrower who testified against payday lenders before an S.C. Senate panel last spring sued the industry Tuesday claiming the loans were made without regard to his ability to repay them."

This is wrong on so many levels....

Welcome to BlawgWatch!  This will be my little corner of the web where I will espouse the virtues of legal reform and point out the vulgarities of the trial lawyers and other filers of frivolous lawsuits.

Let's start things off with the cretin who was cheating on his wife and is now suing 1-800-Flowers for exposing him.  This guy got what he deserved -- hopefully 1-8-F won't have to pay a penny.

He joins the line of recent losers suing for stupid reasons -- the woman who sued because Starbursts are too chewy, the woman suing over a coworker's perfume, and of course the judge(!) who wanted $54 million for a pair of lost pants.

Can someone tell me why we don't have a system where the loser who files a frivolous lawsuit automatically has to pay the other guy's legal costs?
